ECE 461 (Spring 2005) - Homework 8 Posted March 30 (revised April 1) Due in class on April 6 Grading policy Answers to only a subset of the questions will be graded for correctness of the answer and the procedure. Credit will be granted for attempting the other questions. NOTE: ******************************************************** This is the revised homework. Two more questions have been added, and readings below are revised. ******************************************************** Readings: Sections 7.1 through 7.6 (except section 7.5-1) (NOTE: Readings are revised) Problem numbers below refer to the textbook by McCluskey. (A) Determine the behavior of the latch shown in Figure P7.1 on page 322 (present a table that shows next state as a function of the inputs, similar to the tables in Figure 7.2-3). (B) Problem 7.2(b) and (d) (C) This question is on the circuit in Figure P7.3 on page 322. (a) Determine the transition table (b) Determine all stable states, if any exist. (c) Identify all races, and critical races, if any exist. (d) Determine the flow table (D) Problem 7.5(a) through (d). (E) Problem 7.7(a), (b), (c) from McCluskey. In part (a), insert the amplifiers at the outputs of the following gates in the circuit in Figure P7.7: (i) the second gate from the top, in the left column containing four NAND gates. (ii) the bottom-most gate in the left column containing four NAND gates (iii) the topmost gate in the right column containing two NAND gates If additional amplifiers are needed to break all the feedback loops, insert those at suitable places. In part (c), provide only the transition table. Add the following parts to the question: (d) Identify all races, if any. (e) Identify one critical race, if there is any. (f) Provide the flow table
