- 08/25/08: First day of class. Welcome!
- 08/25/08: Part-1 of Programming project 1 (PP1) has been posted. The PP1 along with the part-2 (to be posted later) will be due by 8 p.m. on September 10, 2008.
- 09/01/08: Part-2 of Programming project 1 (PP1) has been posted. The PP1 will be due by 8 p.m. on September 10, 2008.
- 09/03/08: Homework 1 has been posted. This will be due in class on September 12, Friday.
- 09/11/08: Deadline for Homework 1 has been extended. Homework 1 will now be due in class on September 15, Monday.
- 09/11/08: Prof. Vaidya will NOT be holding his office hours on Monday (Sep. 15) as he will be traveling.
- 09/12/08: The students should also read, in addition to the textbook, the slides used for the lectures. The slides may contain material not covered in the textbook. A link for the slides is available near the top of the Lecture summary and Readings page.
- 09/14/08: Homework 2 has been posted. This will be due in class on September 24, Wednesday.
- 09/17/08: Programming project 2 has been posted. This will be due in class by 8 p.m., October 17, Friday.
- 09/26/08: Homework 3 has been posted. This will be due in class on October 3, Friday.
- 09/29/08: Homework 1 is graded. You can access your grades via compass. The maximum credit for this homework is 60.
- 09/29/08: Solutions for Homework 1 is now available.
- 09/30/08: The mid-term exam will be held on October 22, 2008 (Wednesday) evening from 7.00pm to 8.30pm in room 151, Loomis Lab. Material covered through October 18 and the associated readings are included for the mid-term examination. The students should also see the slides used for the lecture. The C code in the textbook (such as in Section 4.1.2) is excluded for the exam.

- 10/05/08: Solutions for Homework 2 is now available.
- 10/06/08: Homework 4 has been posted. This will be due in class on October 13, Monday.
- 10/06/08: Solutions for HW1 and HW2 has been corrected a bit to provide more clarity. Please download the new version if you have already downloaded the solutions.
- 10/11/08: Homework 3 has been graded. You can access your grades via compass. The maximum credit for this homework is 40.

- 10/12/08: A set of suggested exercises has been posted in the "Homeworks" page. You need not turn-in the solutions for these problems. However, it is recommended that you solve these problems.
- 10/16/08: Please see the updated information regarding the midtem test on the course website.
- 10/16/08:The lecture on October 22 (Wednesday) will be devoted to a review of the course material included for the mid-term exam.
- 10/17/08: Homework 5 and few more suggested exercises has been posted. This will be due in class on October 24, Friday.
- 10/17/08: Note that there is an error in a transition out of the state ESTABLISHED in the slide for TCP state transition diagram. Please see the textbook (Chapter 5) for the correct transition.
- 10/20/08: Homework 4 has been graded. You can access your grades via compass. The maximum credit for this homework is 50.
- 10/20/08: Solutions for Homework 4 is now available.
- 10/24/08: Programming project 3 has been posted. This will be due by 8 p.m., December 3, Wednesday. We suggest you work in pairs for this project.
- 10/29/08: The The final examination is scheduled on December 16, 2008 (Tuesday), starting at 1.30 pm. The final exam will be comprehensive. All material covered in the course and the related readings are included for the final examination. You may bring 2 hand-written sheets (that is, 4 sides) of notes to the final examination. Each sheet of notes may be at most 8.5 inch x 11 inch ("standard letter" size). Please bring calculator to the final exam. If you have a conflict with the final exam, please inform the instructor as soon as possible.
- 10/29/08: Homework 6 has been posted. This will be due in class on November 7, Friday.
- 11/03/08: Homework 5 and Programming Project 1 have been graded. You can access your grades via compass. The maximum credit for the homework is 40 and for PP1 is 100.
- 11/03/08: Mid-term grades can be accessed via compass. The maximum credit for the exam is 50.
- 11/04/08: Due to schedule conflicts, Chun-cheng Chen will not be holding his office hours this Wednesday. Instead, he will be holding his office hours on Monday, 11/10/08, 4 - 6 pm.
- 11/06/08: Homework 6 deadline has been extended. The new deadline is Wednesday, Nov.12 (in class). There is NO further extension, which would mean that there is no automatic extension beyond Wednesday.
- 11/07/08: Solutions for Homework 5 is now available.
- 11/13/08: Homework 7 has been posted. This will be due in class on November 19, Wednesday.
- 11/17/08: Due to schedule conflicts, Chun-cheng Chen will not be holding his office hours this Wednesday. Instead, he will be holding his office hours on Friday, 11/21/08, 4 - 6 pm.
- 12/11/08: Final examination is scheduled on December 16, 2008 (Tuesday), starting at 1:30 p.m. (duration 2 hours 30 minutes) in Room 269 Everitt Laboratory.
The final examination will be comprehensive. All material covered in the course (with the exception of SONET, IPv6 and MPLS) and the related readings are included for the final examination. You may bring 2 hand-written sheets (that is, 4 sides) of notes to the final examination. Each sheet of notes may be at most 8.5 inch x 11 inch size ("standard letter" size). Please bring a calculator to the final exam.
